I meant to keep updating but then I got really busy with finals and visitors and flying home. So I’m home now. You can still contact me through email or I have an msn account and we can chat. Just search nurrodiel2@aol.com on msn (I know it’s an old email) or if you want to email me I’m at amb85827@creighton.edu.
I have another tumblr but I use it for writing and rps and stuff so I don’t know if anyone wants that. Let me know I guess?
cheers.
After having a lovely time in Dublin we moved on to the next adventure, the capitol of England, the place where the magic happens, a city that Doctor Who loves to visit: London. Our flight left at six in the morning and so most of us stayed up all night. We went to the airport very early in the morning and had a lovely time trying to figure out exactly where the right departure desk was.

Over spring break I went to Trinity College in Dublin to see the Book of Kells and The Long Room. The book of Kells was really cool and intricate and I loved getting to look at it. Walking into the long room was incredible though. I was not prepared for it and actually started crying at the entrance. I was walking around and looking at the shelves and the few books that they had out and it was incredible.
There was an employee there just to make sure people weren’t taking pictures and to answer any questions that a visitor might have so I started talking to him about the books. Once it became obvious that I was a huge book person and that I loved being in that room he was just like “follow me” and let me to a roped off area. It was this little James Joyce exhibit that had some of the first edition printings and personal volumes that Joyce had owned. He had to go back to stand in the main part but he was joking with my friends that it was obvious I was freaking out about being allowed to go in the special roped off area.
Then he was relived of his place by another employee and he was about to leave when he turned to me and my two friends and said “Follow Me” and he took us into the roped off area and up onto the second level of The Long Room. There were so many books and they were all ridiculously old and he let us touch them. It was the best moment of my life to date. I held a book that was older than the USA. It had clasps and I think it was about the Theology of the Pope or something. I have no idea. The paper was handmade and amazing. And then we touched a book from the eighteen hundreds that was about Rome and that paper was printed on linen paper but all of the letters had been placed on a press and it was just amazing.
Then he sent us on our way and we went down to the gift shop and I of course had to buy a post card that had a picture of The Long Room on it to commemorate that moment forever. Also a quill that I’m going to use to write the Thank you Letter to the employee who my friend called ‘the physical manifestation of Christ’ Or something like that.
We ran into him again in the giftshop as we were leaving, and he handed us a bunch of free passes so that the next time we were in Dublin we could come again. And he said to ask for him so that we could get back into the roped off area again.
So after that I had to go sit down and try to calm down over what happened and I was just so excited that I had to call my mom and while I was explaining it to her I just started sobbing on the phone trying to explain how amazing it had been. So yes. This is the best day of my life basically.
Oh and I told Ken, the magnificent employee that it was the best day of my life, and he was just like “Oh you’re young I’m sure there are plenty more days to come that will be better than this.”
Picture I snuck as I walked into the room.
kevinhale replied to your post: I will be updating this later today with spring break adventures.
Oh boy adventures.
All day every day.

I’m just lazy. Lazy blogger. Also I need to go to the grocery store. And laundry. BUT AFTER THAT

The group decided to stay in Limerick for St. Patrick’s day. Emily’s parents were in town and she was hanging out with them. We all went to the parade together and tried to stay warm while standing there. It was an ok parade, some of the floats were very interesting and some of them were just advertisements for local businesses.

This is the parade grand master starting up the entire thing. We’re sitting across from some of the important officials like the Mayor of Limerick City. It got colder and colder but some of the groups had cool costumes.

After the parade we went to the Hunt Museum that was letting people in for free if they were wearing green. It was really cool and had a lot of very interesting artifacts. The collection was started by a family of antiquities dealers who had their own personal collection. That was donated to the city and became the Hunt Museum.

Those were some pretty flowers that were growing near The Locke Bar, which is where we went for dinner. After that we went back to the University where we went to the Stables Pub. They were having a special on a Snakebite, which is a combination of cider, Heineken, Cranberry Juice and then for the occasion they added green food dye. Even after only a few sips my tongue was green.

Ha that picture looks a bit questionable but I was really only a few sips in. Plus that’s a half pint glass so there’s not very much in there.

That was it! Really quiet night for us. Our friends who went to Dublin said it was crazy!
Neutrino ‘Costume Change’ Mystery Solved?
Another piece of the neutrino puzzle has fallen into place, thanks to new results announced last week by the Daya Bay collaboration in China.
The experiment has only been up and running for a couple of months, but the international collaboration’s latest measurement might explain how neutrinos change “flavors” — akin to a costume change — as they move through space.
I’ll write a proper post for St. Patrick’s Day and other shenanigans later but I am tired. Also I’m going to Cork tomorrow randomly, so that should be fun!
